“Distant Movie (A Self-Tape Story)” is a feature film directed through Internet by Gabriel Daniel Dorobantu, and self-taped by participating actors from different countries (Denmark, Germany, Taiwan, Togo, Uruguay, USA) on their respective locations, with their own shooting equipment. As a fictional work of art inspired by the human condition during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, the film narrates the scripted stories of people in pandemic-related isolation (from the perspective of the past, present, and future – with an emphasis on arts and femininity, as symbols of life perpetuation and progress throughout history, despite natural or human-caused calamities). Filmed on distance under the motto ‘Bringing People Closer’, this movie was born out of the need of giving artistic creativity a chance to manifest itself in the recent pandemic times when physical gatherings on filming sets and on filming locations were not possible.
