“Elegy” is a dialogue-free short film essay on music by Richard Wagner, metaphorically depicting the paradoxical long-term co-existence of communist beliefs and religious faith in the Latin American conscience, as expressions of people’s material and spiritual hopes – both having death as a common element, which is cinematographically seen from the contrasting perspectives of dictatorship-sacrificed lives and the promise of eternal life.
