A chauvinistic theatre manager tries to use his professional status in order to have a sexual affair with an aspiring actress who hopes for a theatre contract. As in the mind of the actress some elements of the theatre role already interfere dramatically with significant segments of her real life, she ultimately finds a criminal way of both securing the theatre contract and liberating herself from the oppressive theatre manager.
